Treatment Steps
STEP 1: CONSULTATION
Start with a personalized consultation to discuss your goals. Your Aethos provider will review your concerns and educate you on each step throughout the treatment.
Step 2: miraDry® Session
Your Aethos provider will first numb the area with a topical anesthetic. Then, a handheld medical device applies electromagnetic energy to heat and destroy sweat glands in the armpits through a process called thermolysis. The topical anesthetic that we started the session with will help minimize the pain, though you may still experience slight discomfort.
Step 3: Minimal Downtime
Some swelling, and possibly discomfort, will be present for the first few days after treatment; however, patients can typically resume their regular activities within 24 hours after miraDry®. It’s best to wait 2-3 days after treatment before engaging in rigorous exercise.

How does miraDry® work?
miraDry® is a non-surgical treatment for excessive armpit sweat, also known as hyperhidrosis. Electromagnetic waves are used to completely and permanently break down the sweat glands, eliminating the need for deodorant.
This process causes thermolysis (decomposition by heat) of the sweat glands. While the sweat glands are being eliminated, the top layers of skin are simultaneously cooled and protected. Since sweat glands are not believed to regenerate after treatment, the effects are noticeable almost immediately after treatment and are long-lasting.
